Questions and answers
Who is Employ for?
Employers in Mauritius who run monthly payroll, their accountants and payroll bureaus, and the workers who receive the payslips. Businesses that schedule by the shift (cafés, restaurants, hotels, cleaning, security, events) can add the roster module.
Does Employ pay my staff?
No. Employ prepares the run, the payslips and a bank payment file. You pay wages through your bank. Employ does not hold funds.
Does Employ file my returns?
No. It prepares the files and keeps a calendar with reminders and a record of each submission. A person submits them to the tax authority and records the reference in Employ.
Where do the statutory figures come from?
From published rates for the period, each stored with its source. An authorised person confirms the rates before a run can be finalised. Figures are calculated on the server so they match wherever you look.
Who approves payroll?
The employer, or an approver the employer has named. An accountant or bureau can prepare the run, but cannot approve in the employer's place.
Can my accountant work in Employ?
Yes. The company owner invites them by email with the payroll role. They keep one sign-in for all their clients and see what is due across them, but each company's data is visible only to that company's own members. The owner can remove them at any time.
Can a worker see other workers' pay?
No. A worker sees their own payslips, leave, shifts and work record. Nobody else sees a worker's records unless the worker shares them through an expiring link they create.
What does it cost?
Prices are set per employee per month and change only by a published revision. The current prices are read live from the price list.
How do I move over from my current payroll?
Import your employee spreadsheet, review the mapping, enter opening balances for a mid-year start, and compare Employ's figures with your own for a month before you rely on it. Setup help and a parallel run are quoted separately.
Where is my data kept?
Employ is operated by Innerverse Ltd, the data controller under the Data Protection Act 2017. The database is hosted in Mumbai, India, with private storage for documents. Read the privacy page for what is stored and who can see it, or ask hello@employ.mu.
Is there a referral or partner programme?
Yes: a discount for customers who introduce other companies and a commission for managed partners. The terms in force are on the partners page, with an estimate calculator.
